One Book One Community

This year as part of our One Book One Community project we are using Michael Kelly's 'Grow Cook Eat'.  Michael is the founded of the GIY Ireland movement and Grow HQ in Co Waterford.  The book is a monthly treasure trove on what to be doing in your garden, what vegetables/ seeds to be planting, what's in season and of course it's full of amazing and delicious recipes from well known chefs making sure we are buying, cooking and eating what's in season.

The One Book One Community project will be bringing together class groups, parent groups and the community to take part in the nine week project, where each group chooses their own idea and works with that and displays their work at the end of the process.
Mr O Connell's TY class are already in full prep mode to launch their courtyard garden and they will have regular updates here and on our Instagram page @growcookeatstcolmans

Our main aim is to create 1000 new gardens over the course of the nine weeks; these maybe be as small as growing peas or rocket on your desk at work or a more substantial allotment to grow a harvest load of vegetables.  Whatever the size they are all important to us and we would love to get you involved!!!!!  Send us a picture of your new or improved garden and we will give you an official Grow, Cook, Eat Garden number.  Each garden will have their picture displayed at the end of project celebration on the 12th April.

Each month we will also be highlighting what is the 'Veg of the Month' and will give you weekly recipes on how to use that veg.  Again we'd love you to get involved; send us your favourite recipe with our veg of the month and we'll feature it on our social media - don't forget a lovely picture too.

We will be launching the project this Friday and hope to keep you up to date with all our and your progress.
